Yep, lots of bad things have been done by bad people using our country and its resources, but I hope you understand that for the first fifty years the Pilgrims had peace with the Indians. The Light and the Glory is an excellent book that really lays out the Christian beginnings of our country. They also did 2 sequel books that go even more into some of the evil stuff that happened later, but it's crystal clear what the Pilgrims/Puritans came over here for; heck, they wrote it down in the Mayflower Compact. "Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith, and the honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northern parts of Virginia"
Great piece. I think a tremendous difficulty is that "The Narrative" about guilt and moral manipulation are so heavily pushed in so many contexts that it's hard to recognize it as such. Everyone is a fish swimming in these waters that it seems natural.
In terms of the letter from pro-life groups you linked, these simply aren't serious people. They cite a survey about abortion regret from 1989. It is a good guess the "shout your abortion" women of today would not poll at the same numbers.
Their call for eternal victimhood of women may be more than social conditioning, although that is a factor. Like Planned Parenthood, the anti-abortion movement is an industry. If they are too successful at reducing the number of abortions, jobs in the industry start going away. Absent punishment, legal restrictions aren't going to make a significant dent in the total number of abortions each year. The Mississippi law is another example, while good, if enacted nationwide it would only make about 7% of abortions currently performed each year illegal. This would be an ideal win for the industry. They make some tangible progress, but the numbers are still high enough that they can continue to fundraise and keep themselves employed while they try in vain to stop the rest.
