The Next American Man

The work that I do here has been primarily intellectual - cultural analysis, institutional strategies, intersexual dynamics, etc. In fact, for those of you who are new here, my flagship monthly big think newsletter will come out on Monday and is all about authority in society.

I’ve long wanted to expand my work into the men’s lifestyle space. And I’m very happy to be able to introduce the first fruit of that expansion, the American Man newsletter.

It’s not news to you that the culture at large has become hostile to men. Tune into the media any day and hear about “toxic masculinity.” And that’s not just the New York Times. Even the traditional men’s lifestyle magazines like Esquire and GQ have become a shadow of their former selves, as often devoted to subverting men and masculinity as celebrating them.

I’m not sure what this magazine is selling, but I don’t want to find out.

To fill this gap, my colleagues and I at New Founding, where I work part time, are going to be launching new men’s lifestyle products that are affirming of men and masculinity, and which promote a more human, healthy, and joyful way of life.

We want to help men become the best they can in today’s world, so they can thrive for themselves, their families, communities, and country.

The bulk of my readers are men, so this is for you. I’ve been working to create products like this newsletter to serve you.

Our first product is American Man, which is a 100% free weekly newsletter. Each Friday, we’ll send out a newsletter filled with inspiration and information. It will have four short, focused sections:

  • PROVISIONS: We oppose shallow consumer culture by spotlighting small, local businesses offering high-quality products that will serve you and your life, rather than the other way around.

  • TRAINING: We suggest fitness routines, preparedness tips, memory strengthening, and other intellectual, physical, and religious habits to help you flourish as a man.

  • CULTURE: We draw your attention to obscure or undervalued books, movies, thinkers, art, and internet ephemera more entertaining and edifying than what's "trending" or promoted by global monoculture.

  • EXEMPLAR: We offer a concise portrait of a man, living or dead, who exemplifies traditionally male virtues such as courage, duty, honor, and determination.

As you can see, this is all about building you up and affirming you as man.

Please sign up for American Man today at: american-man.us

I am not going to be the writer of this newsletter, but have been and will continue to be part of it. This one is a team effort. Our main writer Matt brings a great set of skills to this that complement my more intellectual work here. I’m looking forward to reading this newsletter myself!

Again, please do sign up today. It’s completely free and unsubscribe anytime. Just visit american-man.us.
