It is nothing new for Christians of a Progressive political bent to consider the actions of the State to be God's marching on earth. All of their political goals are simply applications of "Loving thy neighbor," such as by forcing your neighbor to wear a mask and taking away your neighbor's guns and taxing your neighbor's wealth.

Regarding this quote you included from Abby Parson Pratt about marriage: "Please, just do it. What are you waiting for? To move in together? To get your “career established,” whatever the hell that means? To see if you’re really a “good fit”? To get “more financially stable”? That’s all bluster."

True all that, though there are legitimate reasons to wait to marry. I always liked the quote I read somewhere to the effect that the reason the courtship process must take some time is that you must see your potential mate in a variety of situations where they can't fully manage their image. How do they act when angry? Tired? When adversities occur? How do you interact at those times?

I agree that the reasons Pratt states aren't necessarily good ones for postponing marriage, but they might be publicly-acceptable reasons one could give when you are still evaluating whether to take the plunge.

Generalizations all, naturally. Don't know what the stats are, but there are no doubt people who marry after knowing each other a few months and it works out really well.

Wow. I liked the section about low-conflict marriages headed for divorce. I personally am very conflict-avoidant, but conflict is necessary for a relationship to succeed because the real grievances instead of being buried must be aired, and it is so revitalizing when the conflict has been resolved and a better understanding is achieved. There is, naturally, a good way and a bad way to do conflict.

It's clear, from Genesis' Creation Mandate to Revelation's complaint by Jesus' that church leaders hadn't dealt with a false prophetess, that humankind is meant to rule the world and govern itself, with God stepping in when we persistently fail to do so. So let's not fall into passive pietism.
